Thesis printing Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)

Every university in the Netherlands has its own rules and procedures regarding doctoral degrees. Some are relevant when it comes to the dissertation printing:

  • The timetable above all; when should the printed dissertation be ready?
  • Title page and general layout requirements.
  • Delivery digital version.
  • Statements yes/no?
  • ISBN yes/no and if so, can it be arranged through the university?

Unfortunately, there are no general rules about the above points and every university fills in this differently, including the TU/e. Here we will discuss the most important points to keep in mind when you have your dissertation printed for your PhD at the Eindhoven University of Technology

For starters it is good to know that at the TU/e the program Hora Finita is used to arrange a lot of things related to the promotion. The last steps to your doctorate can be arranged through this program. Information on the program can be here: https://www.tue.nl/en/our-university/about-the-university/support-services/general-affairs/office-of-doctoral-presentations-and-academic-ceremonies/phd-defenses/hora-finita/

The doctorate regulations oblige you to deliver the printed copies no later than 2 weeks before the promotion-date at the Chair and other members of your promotion-committee. The digital version should be submitted to them 4 prior to the date of promotion. The university-library has the same terms.

The titlepage is subject to strict regulations. It has to be formatted according to the model which the TU/e requires and the Rector of the university gas to approve the titlepage before it can be printed. The same applies to the English summary and a short resume. Templates for these can found through https://www.tue.nl/en/our-university/about-the-university/support-services/general-affairs/office-of-doctoral-presentations-and-academic-ceremonies/phd-defenses/templates-title-page-cv-summary/. Propositions are optional and the ISBN can be arranged through the university-library.

More information can be found in the doctorate regulations which are available through https://assets.tue.nl/fileadmin/content/universiteit/diensten/daz/Bureau_PenP/Regulations%202021.pdf. Of course you can also contact the Bureau of doctorate affairs. For the printing and possible layout of your thesis you can of course best contact us!
